Convert a US size to a European size
US sizes start at zero, which means nothing to someone who thinks in 36, 38, 40. A US 6 is a French 38, a US 8 a French 40.
The real trap is denim, sold in inches: a W32 is not a garment size but a waist measurement, and it reads independently of the L length.

Vanity sizing runs deeper in the US than in Europe: a single brand may have renumbered its cuts downward over the years. Trust the brand's own measurements before this chart.
